British High Commissioner H.E. Kara Owen’s Guest Lecture
We were honoured to have British High Commissioner H.E Kara Owen as a guest speaker for the ENV3101 (‘Environmental Challenges: Asian Case Study I) lecture on 23 March 2021. During the lecture, Ms. Owen shared about how Singapore and UK’s partnership works to address environmental challenges locally, regionally, and also on the international stage.
Ms. Owen opened with why the climate matters and Singapore and UK’s climate-related work in the context of the evolving global politics and economy. Her rich experience in diplomacy in the Southeast Asian region then shone through as she narrowed the scope down to the region’s future in sustainable development and climate adaptions. Tying the conversation back to Singapore, she spoke about maximising the nation’s unique advantages in tackling local and regional environmental challenges.
After the session, Ms Owen also opened the floor for a Q&A session with the students in (physical and virtual) attendance.
