BACKGROUND

The Singapore Sustainability Scholarship (SSS) is jointly offered by the National Environment Agency (NEA) together with two other Statutory Boards under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) Family – PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

The SSS seeks to groom and nurture young talents who are passionate about forging careers dedicated to enhancing Singapore’s environmental resilience and ensuring food and water security. Opportunities for Mid-Term Undergraduate and Master’s Postgraduate Scholarships are also available.

Application

The SSS application cycle runs from October and closes two weeks after the release of ‘A’ Level results.

The SSS is open to graduating GCE ‘A’ Level, International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic and NUS High students who is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. For Permanent Residents, the scholarship award will be based on the successful attainment of Singapore citizenship.

(a) Value of Scholarship Award

BES students awarded the SSS to pursue local studies are eligible for the benefits in the table shown below.

Full-term Scholarship

  • Tuition fees and other compulsory fees
  • Monthly allowance
  • Pre-studies allowance (one-time)

Mid-term Scholarship

  • Tuition fees 
  • and other compulsory fees (Including back payment of tuition fees and other compulsory fees incurred prior to award)
  • Maintenance allowance (From point of award)

(b) Learning & Development Opportunities

During their studies, individuals will have the opportunities to complete an internship in NEA to gain practical work experience.

Upon graduation, SSS Scholars join NEA for an exciting career, making significant contributions across diverse roles dedicated to strengthening Singapore’s environmental resilience. They will have the opportunity to explore various aspects of NEA’s operations in a dynamic environment.

(c) Support & Guidance

Throughout the scholarship journey, SSS Scholars will be paired with a mentor and buddy from NEA who will be there to provide guidance and share their working experiences and scholarship journey. Additionally, a dedicated HR team will also guide the SSS Scholars through their studies as well as upon graduation.

ELIGIBILITY

The Singapore Sustainability Scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents (SPRs). For SPRs, confirmation of award will be based on the successful application for Singapore Citizenship.

Applicants will have to be graduating with GCE ‘A’ Levels, International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent.

For Existing BES Students:

BES students are eligible to apply for the SSS after they have attained at least 1 semester of academic results.

For matriculating cohorts:

BES students who are matriculating into the programme are eligible to apply for the Singapore Sustainability Scholarship if they possess the following:

  • Outstanding GCE ‘O’/ ‘A’ Level results or equivalent
  • Excellent CCA record
  • Good Leadership Skills
  • Independent and Self-motivated
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Keen to join and work in the environment and water industry
